Research projects

There is a high unemployment rate among young people in Uganda (83%, UBOS 2018). This is due to a significant skills gap and school dropouts. Many graduates (bachelors and masters) also struggle to find jobs due to limited skills.                                                  

Creating digital content (marketing campaigns, websites, apps and VR/AR applications) requires a thorough understanding of end-user experiences and responses. Traditional methods such as surveys provide valuable insights, but often miss the unconscious responses.                 

LoREco, as an ESF transition project, aims to explore ways to achieve this goal. The objective is to strengthen the local economy and social fabric within cities by using a complementary currency and a guaranteed income linked to it.                                               

The regulations related to Brexit are rapidly evolving, demanding a thorough specialization that is highly time-intensive. Through this project, we aim to assess the necessary updates required in educational programs.                                                               

The project Bruges Moves is a structural collaboration between Howest and the City of Bruges to engage students in encouraging all residents of Bruges to participate in physical activity.                                                                                             

An international consortium collaborates on innovation in palliative care education of bachelor-degree nurses.

'Upscaling Health Tech labs for Accelerating Innovations' aims to expand the digital health knowledge boulevard from Bruges. After all, the many digital technologies (MHealth, XR, AI big data,...) do not yet always find their way to the customer and the healthcare professional.  

The project aims to establish and develop the Digital Health Lab in West Flanders, focusing primarily on digital preventive health.The Digital Health Lab will consist of three main components:                                                                                        

The Stroke2gether project focuses on the development and scaling of a digital transmural recovery pathway for individuals after a stroke. It is a stroke care pathway that combines healthcare, lifestyle, and mental support in one remote program.                                    

The healthcare system in Belgium has been facing several challenges in recent years, including the cost of quality healthcare, changes in the demographic population, exponential growth in technological applications, and a growing number of people with multiple chronic conditions.
