Your student card

On the first day of the new academic year, you will receive your student card from the institution. This is the ultimate proof that you are part of our Howest community.

Your student card is the preferred payment method on campus. The Howest campuses are completely cashless. This means that you can only pay with a bank card or your student card at the restaurants and vending machines. Discover in this video how to load money onto your card.

Printing on campus can only be done with your student card.

Study materials

Laptop

As a Howest student, you will need a laptop. Thanks to the laptop project, you can get great value for money when purchasing a new device.

Software

All software for your study programme (and much more) can be found via academicsoftware.eu

The software package required for your study programme is included in the extra study costs. Since the software licenses are valid for one year, the package is only activated at the start of the academic year.

Other programme-specific software can be purchased at a student-friendly price.

Books

Starting from 01/09, books can be purchased online through Standaard Boekhandel (not for DAE) using your Howest login. Details about your order (delivery, returns, etc.) can be found under the Practical section starting from 01/09.

Guidance

The step to higher education is not self-evident for everyone. This is why Howest puts a lot of effort into supporting you during your studies, so that you can complete your study programme in the best possible way. For us, the student is central and personal contact with the lecturers is of paramount importance.

Entry-level courses

The transition from secondary to higher education is not always evident. In order to make this transition easier, we offer a series of entry-level courses that prepare you for your professional degree or graduate studies.
