5G-Pilot Zeevaart This project harnesses 5G technology for unmanned navigation on inland waterways, focusing on semi-autonomous inland navigation with support through 5G connectivity. Howest is exploring the possibilities of a 360° camera and VR applications on the boat & will conduct field tests. POWERITUP From the Level-Up project, a follow-up initiative has been established, aimed at professionalizing teachers of the 3rd grade in secondary education focusing on the labor market and double finality, enabling them to enhance digital competencies and data literacy of their students. TEENIE TINY HOUSES From conversations with partners in the construction sector, it became evident that there is untapped potential for integrating STEM into the construction industry. SD GUERILLARTS A group of young people aged 14 and above will collaborate on spotlighting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an artistic-technological intervention in their city/town. A program will be established in collaboration with local youth organizations. URBAN XR LAB Within URBAN XR LAB, we will explore how to actively engage 14+ youth in (re)designing spaces, focusing onsustainable use of space and the potential of Extended Reality (XR) for visualization and simulation of designs. Be-Mobile The MCT/STAR lab research group of Howest will subcontract with Be-Mobile to investigate and develop possible Android and iOS smartphone applications aimed at ergonomic use by pedestrians and cyclists (active road users). DistractionDriving The proposed user study aims to assess the level of distraction during driving and evaluate the use of screens such as a smartphone or a car kit.
