5G-Pilot Zeevaart This project harnesses 5G technology for unmanned navigation on inland waterways, focusing on semi-autonomous inland navigation with support through 5G connectivity. Howest is exploring the possibilities of a 360° camera and VR applications on the boat & will conduct field tests. Art-Ie The project 'Artificial Intelligence Inspiration' (Art-Ie) aims to strengthen the cross-border region of Flanders-Netherlands in the field of digital innovation, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI). ERGO XR The objective is to create a Mixed Reality application that instructs students in proper and scientifically substantiated techniques for lifting and hoisting. AI-UPD8 With AI-UPD8, the Howest research groups DAE Research and Business and Media want to be and remain a living knowledge and expertise center for every Flemish SME that has questions about generative AI, wants to be inspired or needs guidance on implementation. GAICIA How can we protect industrial networks from cyberattacks by using artificial intelligence to predict hackers' behavior? GAICIA (Utilizing Behavior-Based Artificial Intelligence Against Cyber-Industrial Attacks) seeks to answer this question during this research. AHUMAIN The technological revolution is progressing so rapidly that we witness new applications every day. Two key innovations transforming the world around us are the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). BiKC infrastructuur Many universities, laboratories, and businesses lack the knowledge, expertise, or resources to hire a full-time bioinformatician. The Bioinformatics Knowledge Center (BiKC) addresses this need through practical research and services. ISOC infrastructuur Howest is establishing an Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC). An ISOC is an extension of the more familiar SOC (Security Operations Center, the physical location of an information security team). EdHubAI This research explores two interconnected paths related to Artificial Intelligence (AI): interpreting results to provide better/individual guidance for students and investigating which AI applications could be beneficial for education. SPACE 2 Can AI models engage in realistic conversations with people and perform complex tasks (behaving as a specific persona, such as a client in a psychologist's session)? And how can we combine generative AI tools to create a credible embodied conversational agent?
