With AI-UPD8, the Howest research groups DAE Research and Business and Media want to be and remain a living knowledge and expertise center for every Flemish SME that has questions about generative AI, wants to be inspired or needs guidance on implementation.

With Rethink Energy 4 Food, the project consortium aims to accelerate the energy transition in the Flemish food industry. New technology solutions are being developed at foodcompanies to contribute to the Flemish 2030 goals.                                                        

DIGITALIS

EDIH DIGITALIS provides support to local businesses in the areas of AI, industrial digitization, and cybersecurity.As part of Digital Europe, a call was launched to establish European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH).

Internationally, there is a growing trend of cross-over collaborations between the gaming industry and the music sector, experimenting with virtual productions.                                                                                                                        

BiKC infrastructuur

Many universities, laboratories, and businesses lack the knowledge, expertise, or resources to hire a full-time bioinformatician. The Bioinformatics Knowledge Center (BiKC) addresses this need through practical research and services.                                               

ISOC infrastructuur

Howest is establishing an Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC). An ISOC is an extension of the more familiar SOC (Security Operations Center, the physical location of an information security team).                                                                           

NLAB4CIT

This project focuses on digital transformation in government. How can we enhance, expedite, and innovate public services to citizens through new technologies?                                                                                                                          

CoT - EMS DOE

For cities, keeping the energy bill affordable is a challenge. Howest is assisting Kortrijk city in this regard. Through pilot projects in Kortrijk Weide and Transfo Zwevegem, the Smart Technology Energy lab is developing a data architecture for smart control of energy systems. 

EdHubAI

This research explores two interconnected paths related to Artificial Intelligence (AI): interpreting results to provide better/individual guidance for students and investigating which AI applications could be beneficial for education.
