During the Offshore for Sure (O4S) project, innovative energy solutions are being developed. Thanks to its expertise in cybersecurity, Howest contributes to the design of smart and secure maintenance systems. Additionally, Howest will serve as an educational partner. Our coastlines are blessed with abundant energy sources, including tidal and wave energy. Five developers of offshore energy solutions are joining forces in the Offshore for Sure project, supported by experts from Belgium and the Netherlands.Addressing the need for a carbon-free energy system with reduced dependence on gas is a concern at local, regional, national, and European levels. We feel the urgency to accelerate our innovations and collaboratively create conditions for scaling up, making a significant contribution to a sustainable energy transition, which will also occur offshore. The goal is to accelerate the regional energy transition and promote the sustainable blue economy by demonstrating five offshore renewable energy solutions through a collaboration between Belgian and Dutch technology developers, service providers, NGOs, and knowledge institutions. The projects encompass innovative solutions and a clear plan for deployment in the fields of tidal energy, wave energy, offshore floating solar energy, and energy storage. Howest will primarily contribute to the design of smart and secure maintenance systems due to its expertise in cybersecurity. Furthermore, Howest is engaged as an educational partner in initiatives such as student exchanges, organizing guest lectures, site visits, and summer training programs.
