5G-Pilot Zeevaart This project harnesses 5G technology for unmanned navigation on inland waterways, focusing on semi-autonomous inland navigation with support through 5G connectivity. Howest is exploring the possibilities of a 360° camera and VR applications on the boat & will conduct field tests. Be-Mobile The MCT/STAR lab research group of Howest will subcontract with Be-Mobile to investigate and develop possible Android and iOS smartphone applications aimed at ergonomic use by pedestrians and cyclists (active road users). DistractionDriving The proposed user study aims to assess the level of distraction during driving and evaluate the use of screens such as a smartphone or a car kit. BAR Brexit The regulations related to Brexit are rapidly evolving, demanding a thorough specialization that is highly time-intensive. Through this project, we aim to assess the necessary updates required in educational programs.
