ProeftuinMedia XR5G

Will we soon see (even more) virtual reality integrated into traditional TV news broadcasts? Will we have real-time statistics of football players displayed on our smartphones during matches? Or could we expect a cheering slime monster on screen when your favorite football team scores a goal? It might just happen.

As part of the recovery plan 'Digital Transformation and Innovation Flemish Media,' the Flemish government, through VLAIO (Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), provides support to the pilot project 'Media XR and 5G,' aiming to help the media sector innovate with digital technologies.

The project is being implemented by Howest University College West Flanders in collaboration with AP University College Antwerp. Within Howest, the Digital Arts & Entertainment program – repeatedly recognized as the world's best game school – and the Applied Computer Science program are actively contributing to this initiative.
