I-READ IN VET

Reading comprehension is a crucial skill for students. The primary objective of this project is to enhance the reading proficiency and enjoyment of students in vocational-oriented programs. To encourage them to read more, the Close Reading methodology will be employed. Through teacher training, educators will learn the Close Reading approach.

New insights (Fisher, Frey & Hattie, 2016) show that listening and reading comprehension can be approached differently by using intriguing yet complex picture books and texts for children. This approach is known as close reading. Young learners are taught how to tackle reading such texts so that they truly comprehend the material. Additionally, the development of a game-based learning platform (gamification) will motivate students to read more. Reading in a fun and interactive way encourages young people to read better and more through a game, making it accessible and enjoyable. Innovative reading education is expected to have a positive impact, increasing students' reading proficiency and enjoyment.
