Uganda is a focal country in Howest's north-south initiatives, expanding outreach in study areas and deepening sustainable partnerships. In response to a specific request from the Holy Family Virika Hospital as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) partner, and leveraging our domain expertise in energy management, we aim to address local medical needs through the investment in solar energy supply. This initiative will also facilitate Howest-based techno-economic research and contribute to global sustainable development goals.

In addition to the intended benefits for the Virika community in the south, this project presents a research opportunity for Howest and significantly enhances a valued placement provider for many Flemish university and college students, particularly for Vives and Howest nursing students.
