EdHub CoRio Research: Developing a Tool for Visibility of Student Learning Pathways and Competencies at Howest.

The EdHub CoRio research focuses on developing a tool that visualizes students' learning paths and competencies within the university for all stakeholders involved in the education process. The starting point is the Naviskore tool, which was developed in co-creation with a school group specifically for secondary education. The logic of this tool can be seamlessly translated to other educational levels and institutions. However, the specificity of the university context requires adjustments to certain content elements and procedures to create an efficient tool tailored to Howest. The newly designed BaSO curriculum, built on clear learning pathways, is considered the ideal environment to pilot the tool and integrate features essential for all programs at Howest.

Research indicates that in educational practice, feedback and assessment for learning are embraced as means to shape effective, differentiated teaching (Tomlinson, 2014 in Van den Branden, Ko et al., 2013). Despite the availability of data and numerous possibilities for processing it, functional information usage (data-based decision-making) is not widely adopted in schools (Van Gasse et al., 2015, Heitink et al., 2016).
