Southwest Flanders is renowned as Belgium's production hub, hosting one out of every three manufacturing companies in the country. Many of these organizations are under pressure to transform into industries that handle available materials and resources in a more sustainable manner. The Circular Co-creation Hub (CICO HUB) brings together organizations and businesses from the Southwest Flanders region to focus on the themes of the circular economy and waste valorization. In the initial phase, residual streams from the manufacturing industry are identified and analyzed. In the subsequent stage, the manufacturing industry, social labor enterprises, design students, and professional designers will co-create new products and business models. These creations aim to generate a win-win scenario for social labor enterprises (additional employment opportunities) and the manufacturing industry (new economic valorization of residual streams).
