In this course students will learn about the impact on social transformation and cultural identity when vulnerable people move from one geographical location to another, circumstances in which human rights may be violated and sources of support and protection.

Migration and Refugees (autumn or full year)

The English-taught semester on migration and refugees takes place in autumn as a block course with a wide range of modules. The modules include lectures, field trips, group works, testimonies of experts from the field and contact with people displaced due to conflict, war and persecution.

The English-taught semester in the teacher training department is meant for students in education departments with a bachelor’s or master’s degree. At Howest, we train teachers to teach in nursery schools, primary schools and the lower years of secondary schools (from 2,5 to 16-year olds).
