The research project Virtual Youth Centre aims to create a customized virtual youth center within a VR and AR immersive space for use by youth organizations in the EU. This center will be managed, staffed, and subject to the same policies and oversight as regular youth services. It will offer activity programs and have trained youth workers to support vulnerable young people personally, socially, and educationally. The online platform will be designed and developed by youth workers and young people based on their needs and the values and principles of youth work. It will be managed as a "public service" and moderated like any public space to ensure it is safe and constructive for young people. The project focuses on four specific groups of young people: geographically isolated youth, young people with physical disabilities or illnesses, young people with social anxiety or neurodiversity, and those who are primarily active in the digital world. There are five work packages, each led by a partner with the expertise to deliver specific skills.
