If you have any questions, please consult our Frequently Asked Questions
Another question? Feel free to contact the student secretariat.
As a Howest student, you will need a laptop. Thanks to the laptop project, you can buy one at a good price-quality ratio.
Student Software and books
All software for your study program (and much more) can be found via academicsoftware.eu
The software package through group purchase, required for your study program, is included in the extra study cost. Since the software licenses are valid for one year, the package is only activated at the start of the academic year.
Other program-specific software can be purchased at a student-friendly price.
The books with prices (student rates) can be purchased through Standaard Boekhandel. This can be done during the kick-off week on campus or online with your howest login (more info upon final registration).
The transition from secondary to higher education is not always evident. In order to prepare you as a future Howest student for this new phase in your life, we offer a series of entry-level courses that prepare you for your professional degree or graduate studies.
During the kick-off week, you will receive all possible information about your schedule, the education and exam regulations, student guidance, your Howest email account, etc. You will also meet your new classmates, the Howest campus and Stuvo (student facilities department). You will have the opportunity to purchase your books and we will make a number of practical arrangements to get the year off to a good start.
Howest has two student houses in Bruges and, in this way, wants to guarantee that its students can get a room at a reasonable distance from the campus and at affordable rental prices.
Howest heeft in Brugge twee studentenhuizen en wil op die manier garanderen dat haar studenten op een redelijke afstand van de campus tegen betaalbare huurprijzen een kamer kunnen krijgen.
Of course, you can also search for a room on the private market via the online Kotwest database.
Students who need it can receive support through Facilities to make their study path as comfortable as possible in function of the competencies required by the course. This includes students with a disability, top athletes and working students.
Customised facilities are available and can be requested from the talent coach.
The step to higher education is not self-evident for everyone. This is why Howest puts a lot of effort into supporting you during your studies, so that you can complete your study programme in the best possible way. For us, the student is central and personal contact with the lecturers is of paramount importance.
