Travel arrangements

Industrial Design Center is easily accessible by public transportation. 

By car:

Free parking is always available at the campus. We stimulate carpooling.  

By plane:
Belgium has 2 airports: www.brusselsairport.be & http://www.charleroi-airport.com/

By train:

  • From Brussels Airport to Kortrijk.
    There is a railway station at the airport (platform -1). It takes about 2 hours to travel from Brussels to Kortrijk. There is at least 1 train per hour. The transfers, in case you do not catch a direct train, are at Brussel ZUID - Gent-St.Pieters - Kortrijk. You can look up your train connection online.
  • From Brussels South Charleroi Airport to Kortrijk
    At Brussels Charleroi airport, you can buy a ticket at the Airport Ticket Desk (<15 Euro). This ticket, which is only available at the airport, includes: 1. Bus trip to the train station and 2. Trains to anywhere in Belgium. Take 2 tickets per person (for back and forth) and write "Kortrijk" on the first one. The transfers, in case you do not catch a direct train, are at Charleroi SUD - Brussels ZUID - Gent-St.Pieters - Kortrijk.
  • There are good train connections Lille Europe/Flandres (France) and Kortrijk as well.  

By bus:
Sometimes EUROLINES busses stop in Kortrijk.
The closest stops are Ghent, Brussels Nord and Lille (France).  

On foot:
To walk from Kortrijk railway station to Industrial Design Center, it will take you 15 minutes.

The address is Marksesteenweg 58, BE-8500 Kortrijk.
You can enter the campus via Marksesteenweg 58, after you've passed the park on your right hand side; the Industrial Design Center is the 2nd building on your right hand side. The entrance of the building is at the back.

Housing and stay

During the Summer School we offer diverse accommodation opportunities: 

1st option: cheap & adventurous at the INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTER CAMPSITE = FOR FREE.

Bring along your tent + sleeping bag. The temporary campsite will be installed in the lovely park besides the school building and the municipal swimming pool. Lockers for your personal belongings are available in the Industrial Design Center. Having a (daily) shower is possible at the swimming pool. 2 private showers are at the school campus available for use as well.   

2nd option: Howest student house

We can house 12 students in the international Howest house (11 single rooms / 1 double room). The rooms are available from Sunday 2nd of September till Saturday morning 8th of September. The cost amounts to 60€ per person for the whole week.
