Summer School Program

Learning by doing

Intensive and hands-on workshops, practice and a lot of fun are on the menu of the week. Every workshop is set up as a ‘learning by doing’ experiment. Our teachers are professionals. All course assistants are affiliated to the product design department at Howest University College.

It’s the Industrial Design Center’s belief that prototyping is a process in which a working model or prototype is developed for the purpose of testing various design aspects like features, ideas, viability, functionality, tactility, output and performance. Prototyping can help streamline creative (design) processes.

The summer school topics:

  • Variety of prototyping techniques/methods/tools
  • Usability, tactility and sustainability as the key success factors of industrial design
  • Teamwork and team communication
  • The development of a critical & creative attitude towards prototyping
  • The ability to communicate with prototypes
  • The understanding of a hands-on prototyping methodology

After the summer school you will have a broad view on prototyping and its many application fields.
