National Bureau for Students with Disabilities helps disabled people across the UK make the most of their learning and employment opportunities. Skill, Skill Northern Ireland, Skill Scotland and Skill Wales achieve this by running an information and advice service for disabled people about further and higher education, training, employment and volunteering. Skill also organises conferences for professionals as well as disabled students, trainees and job-seekers, produces publications, conducts research projects, informs and influences key decision makers to open doors for the millions of disabled people in the UK, and working with its members and volunteers.
In Sweden, there is a cooperative network between the Coordinators for students with disabilities in higher education institutions. With time, the national network has developed into a recognised and interactive forum for experience exchange, policy discussion and education/training. The network is here represented by the University of Gothenburg, a wide-ranging and versatile university with eight faculties and 57 departments, approximately 50 000 students and 5 000 employees, and actually one of the major universities in Europe.
